They were just for being in public with an open container of alcohol. I mean I dont know but I dont see it as a big deal....
how would they know to even check these police departments for records of this stuff? I dont really understand. Do they even ask you to disclose them? because isnt this no different then a traffic ticket? there was no repurcussions other then a simple fine that i mailed in.
I think you have the right idea. When you fill out your application don't make any mention of your prior encounters with the police. They have no way of checking so if you don't tell them they'll never find out.
If they do ask you about stuff like this, they are just bluffing. Don't admit to it and they won't be able to do anything.
Or, maybe, just maybe, when you are asked if you have ever committed any crimes or violated any statutes the department will take the viewpoint that an ethical person will disclose what they have done, not what they think will be discovered anyway.
If you plan on being a police officer but you only plan on doing the right thing when you think someone will catch you if you do the wrong thing you are in for a world of trouble.
Save yourself some time and save your future department the effort and expense of investigating and terminating you. Pick another career.
