Go NYPD and make more $ with more opportunity!

NYC DEP has a nasty reputation with a good group of guys, poor management and no real police duties except guard watersheds! They guys and gals way upstate go bored of it and started doing VTL enforcement upstate. They community was "outraged" and rasied hell. Next thing you know, the DEP guys/gals get the old speech from management to knock it off!

I have never seen a good group of LEO's (good training) have their hands tied by a ridiculous agency mission and poor management! Use it as a QUICK stepping stone or I would consider NYPD before them!

yeah i know about the uproar they caused by doing VTL, but i am only using it as a stepping stone...i wasnt around to take our local counties civil service exams, and this was the closest thing to home to pursue, i know it pays crappy but its my certification that im looking for...i've been a county corrections officer for about 8yrs now, so im looking to "break out" so to speak.......and you couldnt pay me enough to be an nypd cop....when your city council members make more than 100,000$yr and continue to give themselves raises without doing a damn thing for the police and fireman down there...they can all piss up a rope.....i dont see much respect given to the nypd of the fireman....especially post-9/11.....

slopegod the Dutchess exam should be rolling around again December of 08, they are just getting into the 90's now on the list and thats 2 years after the test was given.

I 2nd JoeyD on this. A friend of mine was on for 6 years with Dep, he was a detective and told me not to even consider the agency, before he left for another agency he told me that they were still without a Formal Union and had no formal Employee Guidelines or handbook in place. Salary Caps very low and being that its a small department not too many opportunities for advancement.
