    Hiring question

Hello. I am 22 years old and seeking a career in law enforcement. I am working on my bachelors degree. I have a solid work history and have never used any illegal drugs in my life. However, some in my family are nowhere near angels. This brings up concerns for me. My father, who died 4 years ago, has an open misdemeanor DUI warrant; and a sibling of mine, who doesn't live in the same city as me and who i rarely see has been and, probably still is, a drug user. How do departments and agencies look upon these things? Do depts do background checks on applicant's relatives? Not to be too personal, but wondering if any current LEOs have family members with criminal records? I appreciate any input. thanks

Your family's criminal activities will not factor into the hiring process unless you are a part of them.
    Cogito ergo summopere periculosus.
