Just thought I'd pass along some GREAT NEWS I got today. Got a phone call from the head of the LEST (Law Enforcement Student Training) program with Escambia County Sheriff's Dept and she said my interview yesterday went really well, and they want to offer me a position! So, naturally, I said I would love to TAKE a position!
So, starting Dec. 11 at 0900 CST, I'll be a new civilian employee of the Escambia County Sheriff's Department!
This program is only open to those in the Academy. We work for about 3 hours a day at the department then go to school for 5 hours a night and get paid for 8 hours per day! Comes out to a 40 hour work week, and then when we graduate and pass our state certification test we move to the sworn position of Deputy Sheriff Trainee and start FTO!
Other than that, we're in the middle of our 10th week of the academy, only 19 more to go. But best of all, only one more week of DT to go! YEAH! And well into the firing range, should have our first chance at qualifying this weekend.

Congrats! If you are a helo pilot, then I know why they hired you. ;)
We hired a marine helo pilot and he was on the road for a month, then re-called for a year, came back for 2 months, and then when to the aviation unit. He's got it made in the shade. They have video games, gym, computers, etc. and he's only 26.Drive it, Like you stole it!!

Congrats Marine....sounds like a good deal to me. Hows that long academy going? I remember those days thinking it was never going to end. Its a great feeling going solo and working the streets doing what you want in your own car. Congrats again!!!
