Update: Customs

I know I posted that I applied with the CBSA (Canadian Border Services Agency, which is the new name for Canada Customs), back in September, so I thought I'd share my good news with everyone. I passed the written test, and received 665 out of 900 (the passing mark is 585, equal to 65%). My interview is Dec. 1st in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The application for this process is different from the RCMP's where you apply generally, and they send you to your posting after training. With CBSA, you apply for each individual posting, so if I pass the entire process, I'll be posted in Saskatchewan, most likely at/or near the U.S. border....means I'll be that much closer to you southern folks! :D

Ok, update for Dec. 11, 2006. Thought i'd update, as I'm sure everyone was waiting on bated breath (yeah, right). I didn't pass the Saskatchewan posting, as I "didn't pass one or more of the merit criteria". I think that's just a nice way of saying I didn't have all of the experience necessary, which is kind of unfair, since the application ad was worded very generally (I'm guessing so they'd get lots of applicants).

Anyways, all is not lost (except the $600 or so to make 2 trips down there). I still am hoping on the position in Edmonton, at the airport. My marks from the first exam transfer over, as you're not allowed to write the test until 180 days after the last time. Just waiting to hear back on the interview date, as the test writing was Dec. 9th.
