    NYPD Oral psych ques 2

From most responses on here, I have gathered that if you have seen a therapist in the past your psych oral interviewer will request a letter, transcripts of the visits etc., in order to make a complete determination. I saw a therapist back in 2001 in a different state. I do not remember his name, phone number, or address. I called my insurance company and tried to see if they could investigate and come up with his info so I could contact him. Their records only go back 3 years, so they have no information on the matter or the claim. Will this seriously effect my status? Has anyone had this happen? Thank you

I bet if you try REALLY hard, do a google search and perhaps a Yahoo yellow pages search, ask your parents or someone else you can come up with who you saw only 5 years ago.

I last took the MMPI in 1997 and remember the guys name.

Believe me, I've explored every avenue, Parents, google, you name it. I only saw the therapist 2 times. I think if his name was even said to me, I wouldn't recognize it. I was unfamiliar with the area his office was in as well, so I have no clue where it is even if I wanted to search for it. Thanks for your feedback.

you have to at least remember where the place is? start from there and figure out the street then possibly the address and look at all the dr's there, that might ring a bell

You will be placed on psychological hold for infinity until you can figure it out.

It was only 5 years ago. Try harder. I can assure you the Chief Psychologist will not buy teh "I don't rememebr." It just doesn't happen. Especially 5 yeasr ago. There are applicants who saw somebody one time 10-15 years ago when they were little kids due to a divorce and they get the info. Somebody referred you. Somebody must have driven you. Do some hard thinking and research. Somebody paid a co-pay. Start going through old checkbooks. Call your old regular doctor...maybe he made teh referral and it is in yoru medical records. Dig. Dig harder. You must remember where you went or drove or some street. Get a phone book.

If your memory is that short, they will get flag you on that and DQ you.
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

Can't track him down, then you won't get hired.

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.

Bring it up. Discuss it. It shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for all of your responses. I guess I'm pretty much screwed. I've tried everything from calling the insurance company, searching for reciepts in my parents house, even driving to the general area to see if I could find his office. No luck. Is there any sort of National Database where I can get this information? I mean, I'm telling the NYPD all of this because they would have eventually found it out anyway right? So they must have a source where they follow up on applicant medical history?

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding my last post? How would the NYPD track down your Medical History to corroborate with the Medical History you gave to them? Do they even do that? Maybe I could get the name of the therapist through the source they use? Thanks

I had a similar situation, The NYPD wanted my Army records and they were hard to track down.

I would wager if you brought it up during your Psych Evaluation they would put you on review till you get some type of document from the physician. (Did I spell that right? )

In my case, they put me on review (That can last forever) until they recieved my Army papers, I had to expedite the process by going to the V.A. Hospital and nagging them, I knew it would take forever and possibly never happen if I left it up to the PD to handle.

My suggestion to you would be to go beyond the parameters of reality to try to get those papers, ANYTHING from ANYONE that might have something to say about it, try the internet, ask your family, school records, whatever you can.

If it was something minor, you might wanna downplay it during your interview and MAYBE they wont put you on review, but chances are they will and I wont speculate as to the extent of the situation, but just trying to be optimistic with you.

    BE well, Good luck

Just a little update for those who are on psych review or might be in the future with a similar situation to mine. If you don't feel like rereading the thread, I was put on psych review for having seen a therapist twice 5 years ago. I could not remember the name or location of the therapist. Turns out in my case, the NYPD doc requested a letter from my mother instead of the documents from the therapist. The letter was notarized and basically stated that I was not diagnosed with any illness nor did I recieve medication. I have my Mini-Med next week and then hopfully the Jan. 2007 class! Good luck to all hopefulls and thanks for your responses.....

Yeah, maybe. The doc made it seem like that was the next logical step if you were unable to recall the information.
