NYPD - BI - Prior Convictions

I took the exam august in san diego and my unofficial results is 90%.
When I was 15 I got arrested for attempted robbery, received youthfull offender status with community service and probation. I am now 24, have a degree and have been working full time since high school with no other problems.

Anyone in the "academy/application process/on the job" have a blemish on there record from their younger days?

My grandpa and uncle are both retired NYPD and my mom works in corrections for suffolk county. Not sure if this is going to help me or not? Or are they going to laugh and DQ me right away?

ummm yeah i had a blemish on my record. Nothing as serious as that though. Honestly, from going through the process with the nypd, i really dont think your going to be hired through them. The thing that sucks about law enforcement jobs are they look at who you are and who you were in the past. If you were a criminal and now the most straight out guy, you past can really come a bite you in the behind. You got some things working for you though, time, degree and hopefully some brains. No one can tell you this will be a problem because no one really knows. See what happens, you always miss 100 percent of the shots you dont take!

That's pretty serious. I'm by no means an expert but I believe you'll have a STEEP hill to climb.
