    Polygraph

I took my Polygraph last week and told the truth. Nothing about the test was really unexpected. The gentleman giving the examination was very professional. At the end of the actual test I was "unhooked" and he said I did good. That was it and it was over. Do they normally give a post test interview or anything like that? I was surprised it was over that quickly (the whole process took a couple hours but the "machine" part took 10 minutes). He said I did good but of course nerves are getting the better of me.

If he said you did good, you probably did. My exam was very quick also and the examiner told me I passed on the spot. He didn't lie.

Thanks. When do departments "normally" do background checks? I passed the physical, written, oral, and polygraph (I assume), but I have never been contacted by a background investigator. I would have thought they would contact me before the polygraph. This whole experience is nerve-racking but I guess everyone goes through it. This is the only department I have applied for so I hope I get the job. It's looking good so far.

Nowadays every department will do a background check for a sworn position. You will fill out a background packet ( a small book ) and the BI should work from that. The order in which departments do things varies.

I have never understood departments who do background last as that is supposedly where the most people are knocked out.

The confusing thing is I filled out the application, which I assume was a background packet -as it was about 20 pages long- a couple months ago. I submitted all my medical history, school, work, references, photo of myself, transcripts, etc... I guess hopefully in due time I will find out what's going on.

Exactly. Until then, stay patient and on-hand to take care of the next step in the process.
