    Question B.I. process

I am applying with D.C. Metro and they are just beginning my background investigation phase. My question is on average how long does this take? I know it will vary from agency to agency but was hoping there are some MPD who recently went through this same process and had an idea.

    Thanks for any help.

I am not familiar with MPD but from my expierence a lot of things have to be considered. What kind of case load the B.I. may have or there may be other applicants he will do before you.

To give you an idea my B.I. told me that it normally took a few weeks to go through. Lucky for me he got it done alot quicker than that. It took him about a week. The entire process from application to hire took two months which in my opinion is very fast.

It depends on how many they are doing, how successful they are at locating people to interview , there own personal vacation schedule etc. It can go anywhere from weeks to many months.

    Another thing to consider:

When I had my meeting with my BI, she told me my investigation would probably get done quicker than a lot of others because of the number of jobs I've had. I've only had five in my life; some people come in with twenty. That's a lot of time spent running around and interviewing past supervisors and HR people.

In any case, I'm now learning that they aren't lying when they say patience is the name of the game.

And yes, Unit19, two months is extremely quick...

there are a lot of variables to consider as others posted. i'm also learning it depends on the department. a friend of mine down here in S. FLA has been mid-background check for 3+ weeks whereas one of the departments i'm processing with just finished my BI in less than a week. i almost fell over, lightning fast.
