Final Interview???

Hello all, I am new to posting, but Ive been lurking here for years. A little about my situation: IM 32 and Ive been on the eligibility list for our local PD for almost two years. Ive been through everything such as physical test, written test, background investigation, polygraph test, and psych test. Passed it all, but now, after Ive been on the list for 18 mos, and had all but given up that I would get a call, they called. Had an interview last Monday with the Cheif, Mayor and Human Resources Director for the City. I thought it went well as I had answers for all the questions, and some were pretty good in my opinion (which I know doesnt count), but all were honest and the best of my ability. Anyway, it must have been ok, because I got a call today about another interview with just the HR Director on Monday. Anyone got any idea what this is? I do know there were 2 positions, and 5 interviews. But now Im nervous that maybe I said something they didnt like, or they want to check a few things out, then theres always the possibility that this is an offer I suppose.....

Maybe my question got lost in there somewhere, it was: What is this "Final Interview" with the HR Director?

Wondering if its a thanks, but no thanks, or possibly an offer....Though it seems they would have sent a letter if they werent interested any more. Just trying not to get my hopes up, if it is in fact a no.

It's probably some kind of orientation or benefits review. I can't imagine a final inverview and hiring decision made by the HR director instead of the Chief.

Thats what Im hoping. I spoke to the Cheif before the interview with him, the Mayor and HR Dir. He said that was the deciding interview. Make or break it he said...though all parts of the process are that way, he made it sound like as long as the others liked me, I was golden.

But I hate to get one thing in my mind, then get a BIG surprise. Thanks for the response!

Just heard from the CHeif, on my answering machine, which stinks since I couldnt ask him what I wanted. He said looks like we have a meeting scheduled on Monday. Now I dont know WHATS going on. Guess the fact that Im meeting with anyone at this point is positive......just have to go with it I guess.:confused: :D

They ain't bringing you in for a meeting to tell you that they aren't going to hire you. That'd be a letter in the mail. Good luck.

Im still optomistic since Im at least still in the process, but it seems there are at least 3 of us going on Monday. Two of us (me included) were recommended by the Cheif. Ive been told by a few people that it is probably going to be going over benefits, pay, policies etc, but now that 3 are going and there were supposedly two positions, seems unlikely that its anything other than an interview, which is strange, since its just the HR Director, and he was already in on the "big" interview. Guess Ill find out in about 41 hours, eh?:(

It was an offer! Im in! I guess all that other stuf was BS. Oh well, doesnt matter now. Now "all" I have to do is get through the ILEA....but Im looking forward to it!
