    Background help please

Im not concerned about anything else in my Background exept for work history. I had 4 jobs all my life since highschool to now. First job i worked at a fast food while my senior year in highschool quit after 10 months, I had another job for 3 weeks right after i finished highschool quit and returned to the fast food, I had no problems with any supervisor or co- workers at this job, I took a while off from school and worked at a supermarket for 3 years I had no history of problems at this job i had for 3 years, When a new supervisor was hired , He wanted to switch me to another department because he claimed i made him look to bad in front of his boss. He has had a pattern of complaints against him, Our union was showing up alot more at the store because of complaints by other people. I just called in one day and told another supervisor that i was quiting. After that i had a security guard job that i worked at for 3 weeks but quit because it was not going to be convenient to the school shedule they would have available for me in my final semester at college. All these jobs i quit i called and let them know, i did not just not show up. Currently i have not been working for 6 months but attending college trying to get a degree, i have been looking but am concerned , I am also concerned that that new supervisor i had at that job may make me look bad , even thought he got transfered out i know they can still contact him.

Everthing else has been straigh such as credit, no tickets, good neighborhood refrences, good refrence from my internship, police ridealongs. Ect. I am currently processing with 2 pds.

For those of you that know alot about backgrounds, I would like to know how departments are going to take my work history. From what i understand some agencies dont focus to much on switching jjobs while others do. The problem is that the next job i obtain i am probably not going to keep it tremendously long because i am moving out of my state within the next year. Hope to hear soon from anyone. thanks

Have you given 2 weeks notice at any of these jobs? It doesn't sound like it to me, at least in one instance. Keep in mind that when your BI calls these places, they could tell them that. It IS legal to state that "I would not rehire this person again. Why? They quit without notice". That does NOT look good on a job application. It is a sign of immaturity, in my opinion. If you can't hack a job you've been at for the 2 week period it takes to allow them to find a replacement, then I have no sympathy for you.
Ridealongs aren't a reference. I don't understand why you would think that would make you look better. Anyone can go on a ridealong provided the dept policy allows it.
It all depends on the dept as far as the multiple job history. Some just want you to stay consistantly employed for a period of time, some want to see the loyalty to a company (which you have not displayed).

im not trying to create this into an argument, but will say this. Some people that are in lawenforcement have had as many as 10 jobs some even 2-3 months and it has not created a problem and were hired. I know a guy i worked with that was arrested and 2 years later was hired, Oviously that is alot worse than me. You may it seem like every PD vin the u.s. will reject me.

let me just add something, my cousin was a parttime park ranger in los angeles. he was going to his oral board for full time positions, guess what, College kids beat him for the job. He had a great work history and lost this job to them. As what i come to understand is some agencies might make a bid deal out of having to many jobs while others wont make an issue

    Wolve,
I did not say that every PD in the US will reject you. I told you it depends on the department. If you want to continue to argue your point, fine, go ahead. I told you what I have heard from OUR BI's, and what all my bosses have said.
There is a difference between leaving a job because you are moving back home from school, and just calling and saying something like "You know, my shift starts in 5 mins. I won't be coming in. I quit".

Stump, I've heard of several people that got hired on to start the academy on friday and had to start the academy on monday. Guess what? No 2 week notice. On my last job, before I started my own company, I gave my 2 week notice and one of the owners made life hell till I left 1 week short of my 2 weeks.

Just to clear up the LA Park Rangers comment. A 4 year degree is required with the Park Rangers. I think it is bogus. They make less money than cops and they do not carry weapons, but are still expected to go into ghetto parks and cite gangbangers and druggies.

That is the employer's choice. A lot of them may try to get people out of there before their 2 week notice is up. That has nothing to do with my point.

Darin, I agree that some of these places do expect you to start immediately. I don't agree with it, but I wouldn't turn the job down either. :D

I friend of mine who is a PA State Trooper told me he had one week from the time he got his acceptance letter to the time he had to report to the academy. If I get the job, I hope I have more time so I can give my current employers 2 weeks notice.
