Background check investigation

Hello all, I understand that during the background investigation they check your neighbors. What happens if you do not know your neighbors or you are in bad terms with one of them? will a negative response from one of them hurt my background investigation? I had to talk to one of my neighbors for fixing his car and spilling oil in front of my house I don't think I'm one of his favorite people after that. Also, I don't really know any of my other neighbors too well. How could they use them to reference my character in these circumstances?

Yes, they talk to neighbors, depending on the dept. I've had a state trooper call me and ask me about a former neighbor of mine because he was applying. And no, the trooper didn't ask me because he works with me.
If the neighbor has a problem with you and the BI talks to him, they'll know whether the neighbor is an idiot or if there is a legitimate issue with your character.

Few people get along with all of their neighbors. Explain your situation factually, and when they talk to the neighbor they will know the truth. BI's are professional interviewers.

Easily. Your neighbors will know if you have loud, obnoxious parties. They will know if you drive up and down the street like a maniac, etc.

It may be better that your neighbors DON"T know you, than they won't say anytihng bad about you. You are not the guy who has loud parties RIGHT ??!!

I don't have parties at my house. I was only concerned with this one neighbor.

LOL I know first hand about neighbors from hell. My dept talked to them and it didnt effect my background check. My one neighbor hated me and my roommates and im sure she didnt have anything nice to say. I would worry about it to much.
