Don't worry about being relaxed. Being nervous won't matter.

It's not at all like it's been depicted on television or the movies. It's a long, somewhat tedious process. A long interview before the "test" where everything is explained and where you go over all your answers ahead of time - before the test. There should be no surprises in that sense. The only hard part about the test is that you have to remain completely still for several minutes at a time. Your arm falls asleep and your legs go numb.

Whether or not the "test" is a valid measure of truthfullness in screening job applicants. . . . . well, that's been discussed to death in here.

There's alot of prior post on this subject, take a look...mostly remember everyone is nervous when taking these things, and many do pass...the use of the monitor is only part of the exam, the anyalist will be observing you from the moment you arrive and asking you questions aside from when you're hooked up...it's an interrogation, so keep that in mind when presenting yourself and answering any questions asked...it sounds alot more scary than it is...good luck

Nervousness does not matter because they will ask questions they know are true to get a baseline on the HR/BP, Galvonic Skin Restistance (GVR) and breathing.

They will also have you knowingly lie about something to determine that they do get a reaction to a deceptive response.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like "nervousness" would be an issue...more that everyone taking it is nervous - I was crap'n bricks, but made it through twice...

    Follow up to 7/3/03 poly

Well I took the poly on 7/3. I feel it went very well. After the poly I was sent to undergo a complete medical physical. Oh, by the way I was asked to sign a C.O.E. before the poly. Last and final process is the Psychological written and "talk to". Wish me luck
