Hiring questions.. Nothing new here, move along. =)

No record, no arrests, clean background.

My only concern relating the hiring process would be my driving record.

A little bit of background information regarding my driving..
I've had multiple sport bikes and sport cars.. I've gotten a few tickets (3 or 4) in my time. Small town... not alot to do.

I've been in 2 accidents, one of them was my fault (about 2 months after getting my license at the age of 16, I ran a stop sign.. doh!) - The other one, this poor old guy with bad vision (probably) ran a stop sign and I t-boned him. No big deal there.

The last ticket I had was a killer.. I was driving on north I35, hardly any traffic. I punched the accelerator, and it seconds my speedometer was in the mid 90's.. I look over to my right and there is a motor unit looking right at me with a look of concern on his face.

He pulls me over and says "WHOA you were going fast", as he turns the radar gun and shows me the reading.. 96 it says. I said jokingly, "Aawww I wasnt going THAT Fast!".. He said "Yeah you were, license and insurance.." I comply of course and provide him with my documentation. He comes back to the car and we start talking.. He compliments my car, we talk about it for a while.. He told me something along the lines of, "Well, I'll tell you what - I don't see any reason to punish you as you werent driving erratically, just way too fast, if I had this same car I'd have a real hard time restraining myself as well, so I'm just going to write you up for 84 so you can take defensive driving. You don't deserve to have this on your record."

Of course, I was thankful for his kind discretion, and took defensive driving.

That was the last ticket I've had.. I believe that occured in 2004.

So yeah.. thats my story. I know I was going way too fast, that is said and done. It takes just a few seconds in a BMW M3 to hit that kind of speed when already traveling at 65mph .. That was the last time I tried that nonsense. :D

Since then, I've sold my fast crap and bought a JEEP. Not because I couldn't restrain myself, but because I'm a married man now.. more responsible.. mature.. whatever you wanna call it.

Welcome to RP :D I can kind of see how the 90 mph needle can creep up there. I traded my Chevy Tahoe for a Mustang GT recently and caught myself out on the open highway at almost 90  It literally felt like I was going 55. Lucky for me I didn't get caught. My Commander would rip my head off and crap down my neck if I got a ticket for that
    7 foot pursuits and counting......
2 Vehicle pursuits (@ 130 mph) and counting....
    3 scroats tased....

Yep, with the cars they've got coming out now-a-days, you've got to really watch that speedometer, especially when traveling on the highways in Texas (70mph).. That needle just creeps right up there.

    =)

I promise I'm not picking on you when I say this so don't be offended.
But why did you feel it necessary to explain why you were doing 94 mph, how the cop would have done the same thing, how you were driving a car and not paying attention to the speedometer, etc? You used 409 words to ask if the tickets on your record are going to be a problem. Probably not. But quit driving like an idgit. (If you need to know what that word means then you are not from the south)

Nah, no offense taken at all. I appreciate you even taking the time to respond to me!

I wasn't really explaining why I was going 96, I mean.. there is no excuse / explaination that would apply for my indiscretion. I was speeding.. I nailed the accelerator and got busted for it. :(

--and yes sir, I no longer drive like an idgit. Due to my desire to have a career in LE, I've been pretty adamant about acting responsibly.
