    a pretty shade of red

My question is in regards to the oral board, and a problem I have with blushing. I experience nervousness like everybody else (I think) but mine is accompanied with blotchy redness throughout my face and neck. For an olive skinned guy of Middle Eastern decent, I get pretty red! It does take a special circumstance to cause this, we'll say for instance an intense interview, but I fear this reaction to nervousness may give out too many red flags. forgive the pun. Is this something the board takes into consideration? Or will it be seen as a sign of low self confidence? I don't personally feel my preformance will be effected by this negatively, I am only worried about the outward perception of it's appearence.

I appreciate any advice you can spare, and i'm more than greatful for it. Thank You.

hmm, I have the same problem as well. But, I really dont see how it could be a negative against you/us. It is a physical reaction that we have no control over- being penalized for that would seem a bit fallacious IMO.

Recently, I had a similar problem with my oral board, background & polygraph interviews. I have fair skin but when I had to explain certain situations in regards to my wife and I, my face turned red and it took awhile for it to go away. They advised me that it was all normal and no big deal. They even joked with me to help me feel more at ease. They kept calling me Mr. Clinton..

I know you are talking about a medical condition but it still should have no effect on your process.

I have the exact same thing!
Interviews, presentations, dealing with an individual, often my face will go red.
I'm not nervous, i'm totally calm and collective - I love giving presentations :p
However it's something I can't control, so i live with it, and joke about it ;)
    Don't worry...
Plus, many women find it endearing!

Aww, I didn't know I had that affect on you. :p

Zoomaism, don't worry about the redness. It is more common than you think.

I'm glad to have read all that positive feed back, thanks for the replies everybody! The best I can do is just try to relax, but knowing that it's not as uncommon as I had originally thought has been very comforting.
