Is anyone in here a whichita officer, I was just doing some bored web browsing and saw their home page. I would say that their Auto DQ requirements are very, very leanient. I was pretty amazed.

Which aspect(s) do you find to be lenient?
-No convictions of morals, drugs or weapons charges in the past five years.
-No convictions of misdemeanor crimes of violence, or use of physical force or threat thereof, during the preceding five years.
-No convictions, diversions, or expungements of DUI during the past two years.
-No more than two moving violation convictions, or being at fault in more than one traffic accident during the past twelve months.
-No undetected illegal misdemeanor drug possession or use in the past two years.
-No undetected commissions of misdemeanor crime of violence, or use of physical force or threat thereof, during the past five years.
Basically you can be the worst human possible, as long as it was five years ago and it wasnt a felony, you can ligitamatly submit an application. Whether you get hired or not im sure is a different story but why give people false hope.
Are you asking us if you qualify?

The beatings will continue until morale improves.
LOL, I knew you were gonna dog me out valor, but no, just making an observation. My applying days are in the past.
Minimum requirements are not meant to be just met they are meant to be exceeded. If your drug conviction was 6 years ago not, not within the 5 years, and everyone else in the process has never had a drug conviction--who is going to get the job?
I know you are not posing the question of "Do I have a chance with these requirements?" but, I just wanted to inform people who read this and think, "man, I could do it because my DUI was 3 years ago".
And I 100% agree with you, which is the reason why I made this post, because an uneducated person would believe its worth a shot with the way their requirements page is written.Originally Posted by Mike925

...that you are somehow equal to a person who has had NONE of these problems !! You aren't and it could take a considerable amount of time to overcome such background problems.
Creeper Cop
Agreed. But you guys on here are so used to the "Can I become a cop question" you are missing my question. Obviously they wouldnt be hired. So why let them submit an application????? It wastes time, gives false hope, and really imo to see this on the webpage of a department doesnt look good for the department, It looks like their officers could have the same problems as joe smoe civilian and he is still working as a cop.Originally Posted by mcsap

Of course, most of us wouldnt work in Wichita for any reason:p
Departments do not give their applicants false hope. After reading the requirements you should ask yourself wether you meet or exceed them. That way you won't waste your time or the departments'.Originally Posted by mikeyd2006399
