    LAPD Wanna-Be

I am 22 years old and getting my B.S. in Criminal Justice and minoring in Forensic Science. I took the written exam when I was 21 and did not pass, instead of saying that it was never going to happen I went back to school so that I could be better prepared for the next time. Now, I was wondering when I took the exam the second time will they see that I wanted this job and did things to improve my score or will they think I am not qualified? Also I was arrested at the age of 17 for theft but now I am working loss prevention at a national retailer, will this help me in that department? I will be applying again in Augest of 2007. Thanks for your help.

You can take the written exam once every 12 months. I don't think it will affect you in the hiring process later if you pass it this time, otherwise you wouldn't be aloud to retake it in a year.

As far as the arrest goes... good luck. It depends on the circumstances, but if you were ever arrested, its a lot harder to get hired.

Check that link. The page states when you may retake examinations after failing, and how long each test part's results are valid.
