FDLE is called to do the work, and police corruption is one of the major duties that FDLE handles at state level.
Okay this is where I chime in. Trust me when I say I have much more information on FDLE then what is posted. FDLE only investigates officer shootings if it involves state law enforcement, or if the department requests FDLE response, or if the governor requests an investigation.

Public corruption, not just police corruption is a duty of FDLE. There are much more cases dealing with public officials then sworn officers. While I won't go into specifics, your statement is off base.

I agree with Patrick, you need to change your user name. When I first saw it I almost thought you were with the agency till I saw what you posted about FDLE. It was clear your not an agent and probably held a support position of some type.

I'm proud that you have a lot of love for FDLE. It is a great agency, but some of your posts have been off kilter on what the responsibilities are of the agency.

I should have posted much earlier. I have worked with many different departments on task forces and investigations in Florida. Without a doubt, Tallahassee PD is the top dog agency of all PD's. You have great autonomy and the pay and overtime is good enough to live a comfortable life. Plus the take home ride, the OT, and all the equipment issued to you only sweetens the deal.

I highly recommend TPD to anyone who want be a LEO in Florida. It would be the first place I would work at if I wanted to get back into street work.

Oh, and being close to FSU would also be very nice.

    Thanks Nole

LOL..This post went straight to hell!!!

TPD has been nothing but a pleasure so far in the process, and I hope that the process continues that way. I moved up to Tallahassee to go to school after growing up in South Florida, and will never go back. It's a great town and atmosphere.

Nole....got any advice for an FSU grad beginning in the Law Enforcement world?

I was in your shoes 10 years ago. Let me tell you how good it worked for me. I graduated Lively Law Enforcement (now called Pat Thomas) and drove down to Miami (home), with an FSU degree and a LEO certificate.I applied at every major PD on the way down; Tallahassee, DOT, Jacksonville SO, Tampa PD, Orlando PD, Ft. Myers PD, BCSO, Miami Dade, Coral Gables, Plantation PD, just to name a few.

Every agency except for Orlando PD, called or wrote me for an interview to start the process. By the time I was done filling out forms, I was hired by two agencies on the same day within three months from graduating Lively.

There was nothing special about me. I was just like any other applicant, except I had a college degree and a state certificate. I imagine the same will happen to you. While I know you have your heart set on TPD, I would throw out some other apps to pd's you want to work with.

If your set on going federal...well fed agencies love TPD officers...there have been many who have gone to the DEA, ATF, Secret Service, USPIS, Border Patrol, and even the FBI (I still have not forgiven him for that).

Good luck to you, your already ahead of the game.

    Nole

    Thanks for the advice.

I am at Pat Thomas currently, finishing there in a few months. TPD was my first interview, and I'm currently applying to everywhere around the state. Heard Tampa PD, Jacksonville SO, and Cape Coral were good departments.

Did u major in Crim. at FSU? I want to get my Masters somewhere as well, just waiting to get on somewhere and let them pay for part of it.

Actually folks, the name/avatar rule is not as black and white as it appears.

However, one rule that is black and white is the 'poser' rule.

    Agent gram,

If you are, as you imply, verifiable, then please take this as a warning and get yourself verified before you go on to further answer these questions implying that you are in the capacity to do so with authority. Without this, you may find that the information you are trying to relay may be taken with a grain of salt.

Could we get back on the topic of Tallahassee PD?

I called a buddy of mine still with the force, he had no idea but he said he would get back with me tomorrow morning when he got back in the house.

I talked to my bro in law and he said its about 81 dollars every check. That covers him, his wife and two kids... He also said it also depends on if you choose the ppo or hmo. He choose capital health plan (an hmo), he said it was alright but, found it hard to find doc's taking new patients right away

Why is it that all these jerkoffs seem to know about the right to remain silent, but I have yet to find one of them to actually exercise that right. -Legoate
