    Working during hiring process?

I put myself through the police academy and am due to graduate in March. I just recently started applying to agencies so I know there will be a few months between the time I graduate and the time I get hired. I'm wondering if I should get a job during that time, just something to pay the bills, or if I should just take out more student loans and live off them? Any advice?

Also, does it look bad to apply to 5-6 different agencies? There are quite a few in my area that I'm interested in. Thanks.

Get a job and pay your bills. Dont put yourself futher in debt.

When I graduated from the Police Academy I applied all over the State of Florida. Most dept. understands that you are looking for a job and will have applied with various departments.

    Good luck to you.
Eunice: A .22? Oh you've gotta be kidding me. That's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Detective Greenly: Yeah, or bringing a really small gun... to a gunfight.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing about not putting myself into even more debt. I'm just concerned about having to take several days off for testing, interviews, etc. Do agencies tend to give you a bit of notice before having you come in?

I applied at 5-6 agencies. Most did give some notice, but did expect you to be available. The testing and interviews where all during buisness hours, so maybe try getting a job where you can work evenings and weekends.
