Hi all, got a question/questions for any investigators or someone else knowledgable about backgrounds.
A quick summary: Started LAPD process in Oct 2005, passed both written tests, initial background, pat, polygraph, oral, and medical. Got my provisional job offer (have to finish up in 120 days), all I have left is for my BG to finish and my Oral psych.
From what my LAPD friends tell me, I'm going pretty fast (good news). Once I got my provisional, they said I more than likely have the job as long as I don't do anything stupid between now and my certification (and through probation of course, lol).
So my question is this (kinda long winded). If I disclosed everything I could think of on my background (which I did, and at 33 I had a LOT of background, lol), and they passed me through, is that a good indicator that I will pass my detailed background? I'm not sure what they even do in the initial background (verify maybe?) and it's hard to see what people get DQ'd for because they say the department is always vague about it.
I'm not sure exactly what they look for, but from reading posts here, I would assume:
1. Honesty (by verifying what you put down)
2. Domestic violence (I hear thats a real big one)
3. Contact with unsavory elements (gangs, dealers, other criminals, etc.)
4. General character.
5. Drug use (obviously).
6. Stability and reliability (steady job, long relationships, etc.)
I'm also assuming that this is what they look for on the psych interview, but after reading so many horror stories here, I'm not so sure  . Heck, after taking that thing, I wasn't sure if I was sane anymore.
Thanks in advance, and post thanks for posting all the previous info here. I told my board one of the things that really appealed to me about LAPD was a sense of family, and from reading these boards, I'm already getting a sense of that.
