    Military record influence BI?

Never been arrested by police. Clean civilian record. However, when I was in the Marine Corps I had an Unauthorized Absence. I returned to my unit on my own. Had a Summary Court Martial(lowest level couirt martial). I was reduced from E-3 to E-1 and spent 3 weeks in the brig.

I finished the remaining 3 years on my contract. I earned promotions back to E-3 and recieved an Honorable Discharge, and I am reenlistment eligible.

It's the only trouble I ever got into and it was 11 years ago. I'm currently in BI phase so naturally I'm nervous/anxious. I described all details of the incident on my background questionaire so I'm not hiding it.

As a background investigator for my own agency I would view this as a mistake, which based on what you have said here you realized your mistake, learned from it, worked through it to end your military career on a positive note. If I were the BI I would not advise our command staff to disqualify you.

A big plus in your favor is that you did reveal it on the application questionaire. There is nothing worse than surprise information coming through the course of the investigation when it should have been revealed in the application.

    Just my 2c. Good luck.

Thank you. That's how I'm hoping it will be looked at. The dept. I applied to needs officers so bad they have been airing ads on tv, and processing applicants quickly.
