    Which agency has higher standards??

LASD or LAPD? After reading numerous amounts of threads, I would say LAPD.

I have never applied to the Sheriff's, but I would think they all have high standards.

In my opinion after speaking to a lot of people and reading many threads too, I think LAPD has unrealistic standards. You might as well run for the Oval Office.

I wish all of the best of luck to those in the LAPD process. REALLY.

Well...not being either dept. I would say mine is pretty good. Our new officers are expected to be in the top 5% or higher in the Academy. The FTO process can be hazardous to your health, especially if you aren't liked.

But, if of those we have washed out, one is now a Trooper for ISP, another is a lawyer. Free lawyer if you are suing the dept;)

IMHO, who cares. Both departments have parrallel missions but are managed totally diferrent. As far as hiring in; both departments are hiring as fast as a warm body gets through the process. The human resources/recruitment from LAPD is still recovering from RAMPART. LASD has had similiar problems but not on the same scale or media coverage. So if you want to get in, apply to both and let us know which is more scrutinizing.
