What is it exactly they look for during the BI?

I don't have anything to worry about I think. My record is clean as a whistle. No arrests, moving violations, fines, community service, or anything like that. I've been living on my own with my GF since I was 21 (24 now). It may be my family ties that's freaking me out the most.

My dad is a dead beat who got arrested numerous times for drugs, unpaid tickets, DUI, domestic violence, and other disorderly stuff. But he has been out of my life since I was 4 or 5. Still a dead beat.

The neighbors to my grandparents house are actually my real dads family. As in cousin, and aunt. His cousin that still lives there 40+ years later and has had search warrants issued because of dope sales and posession. He's been arrested too. Still a dead beat.

My brother just got arrested for MJ posession, but since he was carrying under half an Oz they let him go, and the charges were dropped against him come court time. He lives with his GF as well, but he says he's staying out of trouble.

Two of my uncles were rotten teens and got arrested a few times for the typical teenage stuff like graffitti, and fights, but they both turned their lives around and now have families. One is becoming a lawyer in AL, and the other is now working here in CA for corrections.

Will such things like the above harm my chances? I've been out of those surroundings since I moved out. My parents thus moved 50+ miles out of SF, as we used to live with my grandparents in SF. My mom has been remarried for the past 15 or so years with my step dad, whom of which I hold much more respect for since he's never been in trouble before and has been in SFFD for the past five years.
