Given Conditional Letter of employment by VSP

    Hay gang,

I recieved a conditional letter of employment today from Virginia State Police. It is conditional subject to the polygraph, background, psychological and medical testing. Overall though, I am confident that I am in.

Way to go Darin, like everyone else said, if you fall off a horse, get right back on and try again.

Good job man. We've got a few former VSP Troopers on our department. If you like to stay busy request the VA Beach area. They tell me you won't be bored.

Oh yeah, hope you been running!

When it is time, my first request will be for District 2 I think which is like Spotsylvania and Stafford county. I plan on getting a boat (like a 25 footer) and Lake Ann is in Thornburg which is in Spotsylvania County. My second choice is VA beach area though. My third choice would be to stay up here in Northern Virginia but the problem is that the cost of living is much higher up here.

Mike , from talking to some Va. Troopers at my gym, they usually put new recruits in the DC area or Richmond or the Tidewater area or wherever they are needed. It makes sense because those areas are heavily populated. Also they told me that if a recruit finish first in the academy that they have their pick.

Well I guess I have something to shoot for Then again I heard that they call the last person to finish in the academy "trooper". ;)

    Mike

p.s. where is tidewater anyway? I am guessing by the name that it is in the VA beach area.

Although it's great that you got a "conditional offer of employment," I wouldn't be telling people you are definately in. The process of becoming a Trooper is tough and you can be disqualified at any time for almost any reason. That being said, if you have a clean background and pass all the steps, then you should be fine.

I received a "condtional offer of employment" from the Pennsylvania State Police and I recently took the polygraph. The Trooper who gave me the test said he would have told me if I falied and he didn't so I'm assuming I passed.

Although I feel good about my chances, I am refraining from telling people that I am definately in because I think that the PSP wouldn't like hearing that I am going around telling people that I have the job when I haven't even completed all the steps yet. I'm currently waiting to hear from my background investigator.

Good luck with the VSP and keep us posted on your progress.

I got my conditional letter of employment AFTER the poly part. The only thing I had to worry about was my fingerprint check and physical. At the point I got my letter, I was telling people I was hired.
