will a drug detox show up? (Need Feed Back ASAP PLS)

I had been persribed pain pills for back pain (due to a mv accident) and formed a habit for them; both problems have been corrected since (the back pain and the pill habit). I decided to walk in to a hospital so i can detoxify my self from the pills without all the discomfort. Will this situation disqualify me? will they know about it? isn't this kind of thing confidential?
I have aplied with NYPD, my gut feeling told me it was a bad idea to go to the hospital. PLS respond, need feedback.

I have no idea if it's a DQ or not but I can tell you that it will need to be disclosed to a BI. You will be asked and if you choose not to disclose it you would be lying. When you apply for a job with that kind of responsibility and potential liability there are no such things a confidential records.

I just have to say this. While you may regret going to the hospital due to there being a backround issue, I would think it is far better to live a drug free life.

    Just my non-sequitor opinion though.
"Cheshire Puss," she began, rather timidly... "Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where..." said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.

I don't know if that kind of thing would disqualify you. It would really depend on what you did to illegally obtain the medication (if you did.)

You are required to reveal this during your background investigation. If you don't you would be disqualified for being deceptive. You will sign a waiver for information including medical records so it will likely come up.

Regardless however you are much better off for having detoxed, that is commendable.

Honesty is the best and only policy. Like Valor said, when I applied I had to sign and notarize a document that would allow the BI to access all of my records including medical.
