Made it onto eligibility list!

Finally on my 3rd attempt, made it on to the eligibility list for an IL department! Was extremely excited to get that in the mail, and it's a nice change of pace from the "Thank you for your interest..." letters.

Now the waiting game continues... :eek:

The only thing I was expecting differently was to be mailed an actual copy of the eligibility list to see where I stand - but I only received a letter stating I was on the list. So now I'm wondering if any departments actually let you know your standing on the eligibility list, or if I could even call and request that information?

I don't know how eligibility lists work out there, but here in California, at least in my area, they are the kiss of death! A lot of times, departments that aren't recruiting tons of people in a hurry will create these lists and continually test for new people to add to the list. While you may be eligible for a year or whatever, all the people that have tested and scored higher than you just go on the list above you. I hope that isn't the case for you and I wish you much luck!

Depends on what Dept you go with in illinois. Some of them dont "Rank" like my dept. With my dept your name is put on a list in alphabetical order and the sheriff can hire who he wants, when he wants. Which is kinda pointless in my opinion, but eh.
