Anyone on here familiar with the Tallahassee PD? I am interested in applying to them, and was curious as to how this department is? Also, a friend of mine heard they have a good academy there too. Any info on that? How is the city of Talllahassee living wise? Appreciate all your help!!

I asked my brother last year about them. Very good department; keep in mind that there are 4 police departments there. dont know if they have an academy. The living their is not that expensive. my brother's first house was off of Thomasville about a 2 miles past the prison. He got that house below market value. Do yo have at least 90 semester hours? I know that is one requirement.

Tallahassee Police dept. is an excellent PD. I have many friends who work there and love the agency. A few have left the agency and gone federal, or state, only to return back to the PD.

The cost of living is relatively low due to it being a college town but the housing has increased substantially as all cities in Florida.

The academy you are referring to is called Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy. It is a real good academy, and when i went through it, the school had a 98% passing rate on the State Certification Exam. They also would only accept students (self sponsor) that had an AA degree or higher.

Tallahassee PD is really good to work at from everything I hear. You should try riding with them.

Id reccomend Charlie Midnights (Ghetto), or Alpha Midnights (College Kids) on a friday night.

Good PD, about 500 officers, take home cars, nice people in general. Pay starting at 38K. Can make up to 38 dollars an hour working extra at FSU/FAMU games and 40 per hour working certain bars on the strip on weekends.

PTLEA (Pat Thomas) is an excelent academy with many resources. Great shooting range and very large skid pad.

As for living here its great. Good weather most of the time. Yesterdays weather was mid 80s (YES, In FEBRUARY!!!)
