how indepth are S/O's examined?

i was curious as when the BI begins how indepth do they look at closest friends and boyfriends/girlfriends. Do they run background checks on them? Is it any interest to them if the S/O has a blemish on their record or are they more looking for feedback on me?

I've never had a girlfriend or girl I'm dating checked in a BI, and I've had BI's done at the local and federal level. If it was a spouse (i.e. wife or husband) it would certainly be different. They could interview a girlfriend or boyfriend as a reference, but I haven't heard of the background of a girlfriend or boyfriend being checked who isn't also an applicant.

Is there a reason you have for concern?

my gf asked me, which in turned made me ask her if there is a problem.:eek: shes clean from my understanding and i never really worried. i thought it was interesting question because I was explaining how indepth they look at potential candidates and look to your friends for a judge of character and so on. so she asked if they are indepth with the people close to you.

My wife got interviewed in our home for over an hour by my BI. A lot of the inteview was letting her know that things were going to get tough for a year while we adjust to the new pay and schedules.

My brother inlaw is a convicted felon. This had no effect on my hire.

That similar situation applies to me too. My brother's record isn't squeaky clean, but he has minor blemishes on it. I haven't lived in my parents place for a good 3 years now, so I'm hoping his record doesn't do anything to me. And not to mention my REAL dad, he's a scum bag. His record is littered with arrests, and warrant probably, but I don't communicate with him. I haven't seen, nor heard, from him in years. He called me on my bday, but I didn't want to talk to him. My mom re-married and now my step dad is a Firefighter, so I have much more respect for him than my own flesh and blood. I too was wondering if that would effect my chances.
