    Driving record

Ok, I will be the first to admit that I -had- a speeding problem. Definatly done and over that, but how bad are my chances of getting hired if I had Approx. 10 Speeding tickets (cops love me) and 1 driving without a license charge.

There is no excuse for all the speeding tickets I know, and my insurance is doing a great job of punishing me for that (250/month for liability)

Driving without a license came from me having to drive to school one time. My license plate light was out and I got pulled over.

Beyond that I have -no- other charges, in great shape, 3.7 GPA and pretty much a drug free history.

With ten speeding tickets, and one for driving w/o a license, I personally think you are going to have a little problem getting hired.

Damn, Maybe I should just try for Nascar. I knew my speeding habit would seriously bite me in the butt one day.

the 10 speeding summones is probably worse than smoking weed (and fake weed, whatever that is) twice. It shows a lack of learning, and a disrespect for traffic laws.

A pattern of irresponsible behavior is a much bigger red flag than a single violation.

Such a pattern of behavior will be a disqualifier for most, if not all, agencies.

Most agencies figure that anyone can have an off day, which is why a single speeding ticket won't be likely to DQ anyone. You can hardly use the "bad day" excuse for ten separate tickets.

I racked up a few early on as well. It's been ten years since I had a real problem with speeding tickets and guess what, I've been turned down at least 2 times just for that. You've got no chance without a number of years IMO.

You're going to need at least 3-5 more years of a PERFECT driving record. Let me reiterate: NOT a nearly perfect but a PERFECT driving record. Taking a defensive driving class and getting some positive points back on your license can't hurt either. You won't get hired with negative points still on your OL.

I had a friend of mine who got hired for a SO in another county that had some trouble getting on at first. He had more than a few tickets. However, he did many things to boost his resume. He joined the Marines (I believe he's been to Iraq at least 2 times) and also has a BS. Last I heard from him he was working on his second BS. My point is that it took him a couple of years to get hired even though he had many positive things in his resume.

The only choice you have is to keep clean and wait a few years. Personally, If I was looking at dozens of applicants and seen yours...It would end up towards the end of the stack. You always have to keep in mind you are going against people who have spotless records.
