    Moving on up!

Hey guys and gals! I haven't posted in awhile, but I have been visiting often.

Well, if anyone remembers, I took the poly awhile back and was told by the examiner that I passed. After about 2 months of waiting, I got a letter in the mail today saying: "your applicant file has been reviewed and you have been scheduled for an assessment center evaluation". :D

I guess the examiner didn't lie to me! This is for a South Florida police department and the test is supposed to consist of a video, written and trigger pull test. If anyone has any tips or suggestions for me, I'm all ears! If not, wish me luck!

I'll let you know how it goes either way, Take Care!

Definitely no joke there. A buddy of mine got through the whole process for Ft Lauderdale in about 2 months. He's in the last week of academy. I don't know whether to hug him or choke him! I'm so jealous, but my day will come! :D

Departments in Broward do things faster. BSO and FLPD are good examples of that.

I heard Pines is hiring 7 officers, so I'm going to apply there within the next week.

So does anyone else have any tips or advice on the assessment center testing? Whenever I search for information about the test, I don't get much. There's not a single person in this forum besides Apollo that knows ANYTHING about this test?

I don't think that there are any officers from MDPD on this forum.

Alright, I took the test and I think I did pretty well, but only time will tell. I didn't have enough time to complete the writing portion of it. I hope that doesn't effect the overall results too much. I was told I will receive a letter within 4-6 weeks with the results.

I now realize one of the reasons you don't hear much about the assessment center tests is that you are instructed to not discuss the process with anyone. My honesty and integrity are important to me, so I will do as I was instructed and not say anything about it.

I will say that it isn't something that you can study for and that it was different from any test I had ever taken before.

For anyone out there that has an assessment center test coming in the near future, I wish you the best of luck!

My fingers are crossed and I pray that I passed. I think this was my biggest obstacle so far in the process.

    Foo Man,
I'm new here and I think we're applying to the same agency. I just took the CJBAT and hope to be getting the results in a couple weeks. At what point in the process does this assessment center test come? If you got any info on that, and can offer any advice on matters non-classified, please lemme know. Thanx!

The MDPD process is like this:
    • Written test
    • Orientation
    • Polygraph
    • Assessment Center
    • Psychological Exam
    • Medical Exam
You are assigned a BI usually before the polygraph.

No Physical Agility Test or anything like that? Running, lifting weights, climbing walls, dragging dummies?

No agility test. They expect you to be in shape before the academy. I haven't been assigned a BI that I'm aware of.

As far as the process goes, be ready for ALOT of waiting. I took my CJBAT, TABE, swimming and physical agility tests at BCC and got my results within a week. I used the CJBAT score there to turn in with my application. After turning in my application, I didn't hear anything for about 3 months. I got a Personal History Questionnaire and a date to come in for the orientation. Make sure you have all of you background information ready (previous jobs, residences, schools attended, driving record, etc.) before you receive the PHQ because you will probably only have a week to fill it out before having to bring it in at the orientation.

The orientation is just that, an orientation. They will explain the job to you, you will watch videos and at the end, they will call out people individually and your application will be reviewed by a BI and they will tell you if you can continue on. If you can, you will be given a date to take the polygraph. After the polygraph, get ready to wait again (2 months in my case). You will then receive a letter giving you a date for the assessment center test (assuming you pass the polygraph).

This is where I'm at now and I don't know how the rest of the process goes, but Apollo listed it the way it says on the paperwork I received at the orientation. I believe the background investigation really gets started when/if you pass the assessment center test.

I was told that I'll receive the results of the assessment center in 4-6 weeks.

Who needs that stuff??? :p You are supposed to be training already. By that I mean running, doing pushups, situps, pullups, etc. Don't forget that the MDPD academy is 40 weeks long.
