    Another Newbie Question

I'm sure that everyone is tired of the "what are my chances" question by know but sorry I have to ask. I just took the Denver PD written and video exam. The written was pass fail. I scored a 78.5 on the video portion. The only possible black mark on my background is that I showed a classmate how to use Adobe Photoshop and he then used the basic skills I taught him to make a fake ID. I was upfront and truthful on my background sheet and told them this. I have never used drugs, didn't drink underage, have had one accident when I was 16 and a speeding ticket 3 years ago. I have never been arrested, accused, or even questioned by a LEO about anything.
Oh yeah, I am in my last semseter of a 4 year degree as we speak.

Does anyone have any clue if the video score I got is good enough to be a good canidate?
Is my teaching of computer skills that were used in an illegal manner going to hurt me?

Thank you for you input and I appologize for yet another what are my chances question.

If you knew your friend was intending to use what you taught him to make the fake ID you may catch a little heat for it. If you had no idea what he was going to do then you really can't be at all culpable for it. That's like blaming the gun industry for criminals using guns.

Even if you taught him how to make the fake ID it's not the end of the world. Continue being honest. If it was fairly recent it may temporarily prevent you from getting hired. Worst case scenario you need about 5 years from the time it happened to get hired.

I hate making excuses, but I just wanted to fit in at the time. I was 18 years, 1 month old at the time, I am now almost 24. I knew what he was going to do but it was my first semester away from home and I was looking to be cool.

You made a judgement call mistake, didn't commit a crime, and feel regret about it, and it was over 6 years ago. Shouldn't really hold you back.

If you are honest about it, it should not hold you back. I have 3 speeding tickets, had my license suspended, did a lot of underage drinking, stole some stuff as a kid, and got in a fist fight with a gunny when I was in The Corps (I was a sgt) and I got hired. They're just looking for integrity. Integrity is PARAMOUNT in law enforcement. If a defense attorney ever has proof that you have violated your integrity you're worthless as a peace officer in court as a jury won't listen to a cop that has lied. I was honest about all of my background. It also wouldn't hurt to volunteer your time in some sort of community organization. If that's the worst thing you've ever done, you should be fine  Best of luck to you. BTW.....what is the "video" portion of a police test? I've never heard of that.

I'm not supposed to give specifics about the test or questions, but everything I'll say you can find on DPD's website including a couple of examples. They have you do three written sections that are all pass/fail. They aren't graded, which I think sucks since I'm almost positive I did extremely well on it. Anyho, after you pass each section they show you 35 videos and you have 10 seconds to choose one of 4 responses. The demo video on their website is two officers respond to a domestic, the obvious correct choice is something like "question each party seperatly." It a situational judgement test. My probelm with it is that sometimes what I would do in real life fell between or used parts of two of the choices.

Its ok though, the department I really want to work for has an all written test, and I'm sure I'll do much better than the 78.5 I got on the video test.
