Quick question...

When I was 18, one night my girlfriend (15 at the time) handed me her digital camera and told me to take pictures of her in some VERY suggestive poses (nude included). Stupidly, I complied and took the pictures. After taking maybe 5 or so, i deleted them immediately realizing how serious it really was. Now the only other thing on my history is buying a stolen game from a friend of my brother. Would this be an automatic DQ for me? Would they take into account that I had been with her 1 1/2 years at the time and am still with her this day (and hope to marry her)? I know it was stupid of me to do and it is my own fault so please don't flame me. I just want the honest answers from all of you about what you think, and possibly what I could do to improve my chances of being hired. Thanks

I assume you're asking this because you've done a search and found that your actions were technically producing child pornography. Apply, be honest and find out. The department could DQ you for this, as well as DQ'ing you for having sex with a minor (which I'm assuming to be the case if she was comfortable enough to have you photograph her in the nude). Really it will boil down to being the call of the hiring department. Your best bet is to be completely forthcoming and honest about this matter, as it most certainly will be a DQ if it is discovered after you attempted to conceal it.

Come on... If you're gonna make fun of my situation at least be a little productive and give me a little input. I already feel like a perv for what i have done (even though i'm not). I truly love this girl and work very hard to put myself through school. I have a 3.8 gpa right now in college and am working hard to meet my goals...

Read my previous post, Matt. You can't change what has already been done (no matter how badly you may want to), and if what you have done costs you a career in this field, there's nothing you can do to change it. It seems that you're doing everything in your power to mitigate this matter, so apply and be positive. If they say "yes", then apparently all the hard work you're doing to beef up the positives about you is serving you well. If they say "no", brush yourself off, jump back on the horse and try again elsewhere (or seek another field that interests you).

Thanks for the intelligent reply. I have done research and i have not violated any statutory rape laws at all so my only concerns are the porn and the receiving stolen property. Think I still have a chance? Thanks again

Hate to say it, but no one here is going to be able to answer that question with any certainty. I don't know what department you've applied to, so I can't comment on what their hiring policies are, or what they're willing to accept in a candidate's background. Department hiring policies vary (ex: some departments have zero-tolerance policies on past drug usage, while others have more flexible policies). All I can say is what I've stated previously: apply, but upfront and honest, and stay positive.

So, let me put this into terms we all can understand, without the flowery bull****. While and adult, you photographed a minor, naked, looked at the photos for your own pleasure, and then deleted them from the camera? So you produced child porn, viewed child porn (knowingly and willingly) and you haven't done anything sexual with her?

Here is an idea. How about you ask her dad if he considers it to be child porn, and an offense worthy of a DQ. Just my 2 cents...

No, I have done some sexual things with her but none of them follow under the statutory rape laws in our state because of the age differences.
