Computer Charge

When I was 14 I was charged with accessing (hacking) a credit card companies computers. ( I did not transfer any money or mess with anything, was just curious) I was put on 2 years of court supervision for this and completed it without any problems.

Will this effect my chances of getting hired into police work?

Their is a chance that this issue will affect your BI. The one thing you need to do is to be honest about it.

well in IL you cant be a cop till your 21 anyways, so as long as I stay out of trouble hopefully my chances will increase. I knew that little stunt was going to screw me in the end

Check into getting your juvy record expunged and for that you need to call a lawyer.

You hacked into a credit card company database??? And you want to work in LEO. Dude, if your as good as you post, you may want to reconsider and work for an internet security company. There would be a lot more bling bling in your future.

I think I was using a Commodore 64 when I was 14, so there wasn't a whole lot of hacking going on.

How did you figure out how to do that at age 14? Why don't you get a techie degree and go for gold?

Well I stopped messing with computers for a couple reasons:
1. It was court ordered for me not to touch one while I was on supervision.
2. My parents were extremeley pissed off and refused to buy me one, and its hard to buy a computer when your 14.

I -do not- want to go into some form of computer career, its not fun. Its mundane and I dont care about the money. being a cop would be 200X more fun then anything I could do with computers.

Also I figured out how to hack my doing it in groups. If you are ever intrested in hacking finding a good hacking group will make your skills increase like crazy

I agree with this. I was a computer information systems major when I first started college. It was fun at first but it got old real quick. I couldn't see myself sitting in a cubicle all day long. So I switched to CJ, I am a lot happier now. Even my computer classes are more fun now.

I dont mind giving that information out because
1. I am not ashamed of what I did.
2. It will not incriminate me in anyway seeing how I do not not illegally do that any more, the extent of my hacking are servers we create and encrypt on purpose for the reason of hacking it.

But anyways, its a good skill to have and I agree with the CIS major it is definatly not something I want to do for the rest of my life. Computer programming is a very tedious and stressful position to take.
