Anyone have any info on Florida Capitol Police? Are they basically security guards? Thought I would get some info before I would even apply.

They only have jurisdiction on State property. They mostly work security oriented details in Florida. Most of them are obviously located in Tallahassee, but they do have assignments in other cities in the state that have state buildings.Originally Posted by JonSch7
If your young and aggressive, I would recommend a local LEO slot. If you would like to stay in Tallie, and have state benefits, then Capitol Police is a good option.
Eunice: A .22? Oh you've gotta be kidding me. That's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Detective Greenly: Yeah, or bringing a really small gun... to a gunfight.

Just like any state agency in FL, they have state wide powers...while it is not normal to see a Capitol Police unit pulling someone over on I-10 or the such they can do it...
Capitol Police is a slower type of LE, but they do assist the other agencies...the last ride a long I went on with TPD, Capitol was helping search for a suspect downtown...
You in Tallahassee now? I just graduated from FSU, and out at the Pat Thomas Academy now. You working or soon to be working in Tallahassee?
I'm in Tallahassee for about 3 more days then I move to Tampa (got sponsored by Hillsborough County Sheriff). I have a friend who is at Pat Thomas now (he got sponsored by TPD).Originally Posted by JonSch7
