    Application Response Time?

I applied to SFPD in the middle of November, and have yet to hear anything from them. I applied to CHP before applying to SFPD, and they got back to me in a week in a halfs time. What can I do, or who do I call, to follow up on my app to SFPD? I'm afraid it didn't get to them or something, but by what I heard, they are kind of slow... I guess I'm just anxious :p

My heart is set more on SFPD just because it's my hometown an what not, and I'm not too sure I can pass the CHP vision requirements, which sucks.

Don't get discouraged. It took 8 months for me to hear back on my application with my dept.

I have also applied and I called them since I am out of state and need to book travel reservations. The lady told my that the written test will be on Jan 12th, and that they have not setup the schedule yet. So about 2 weeks before the test we should get a letter for the exact time.

That's what I heard too, the Jan. 12th date that is. I haven't heard anything other than that. What number did you call, and what dept.? I'm wondering if my app even made it there. It should've anyways since I only live about 10 miles south of SF.

Got my application acception letter :D

Time for the written test next Thursday @ 7:45am for SFPD. I'm so psyched!

Time to study a little more on the material that may be on the test.

I have a concern about clothes believe it or not. It says to wear "comfortable, casual clothes" since the test is set on a 4 hour duration. I'm hearing to wear a suit from some people, does that sound right? I was going to wear casual clothes of course, as in a collared(sp?) shirt, and some slacks. No tie or blazer over it, but a nice jacket. Should I be wearing a suit though?

A nice shirt and slacks sounds good. In all honesty, you could even probably get away with nice jeans and a nice t'shirt, that is what I wore to mine. There will be a whole lot of people there, they won't be placing a name with your face yet, you don't want to show up looking like a slob, but they are not expecting you to be ready for an interview. Don't wear a suit. There was one guy wearing a suit when I took my test. He looked very out of place and unconfortable.

Thanks for the response. That eases up some tension on my part. I didn't know if I could sit there in a suit for the four hour written test :p Although I know that I will be needing to wear a suit for the grilling later on.

    hey uprock,

I have the same test time as you...good luck.

I also read a thread last week that everyone said to wear a suit so I was worried also, but I think I'm going to wear nice jeans and a nice button up shirt.

Niice. Maybe we'll cross paths and not know it :p
Good luck to you too. It seems pretty basic, but I'am still studying what practice material they provided. I'm prepping for the physical test a lot though.

Well that written wasn't all that bad. They really only gave us 2 hours or something. The reading comprehension section was a doozy. All that reading on all types of subjects can wear a person down, but after that was all done, the CLOZE section was another nerve knocker for me. I didn't start the last section until there was about 45 minutes left for the test. Luckily I gathered myself and was able to finish right as the buzzer went off.
