Any other LEO's have any advice for me? Think i can make it with this background? Thanks again
I think most of these guys are coming down to hard on you. Were you stupid? Yes. Do you regret it? Yes. Were you a minor? Yes. Does your current lifestyle exhibit similar properties? Hopefully not.
As long as you admit your mistakes and take responsibility for them up front, it is not going to be as tough as some people are leading you on to believe. You might meet a DB who thinks he is perfect and DQs you, but more than liekly you'll have a human being who has made some mistakes doing your background check. Take heart, you are trying to do good now and hopefully you'll be judged on that.
I'm in agreement with the other poster.....you just have to go for it bro.....I heard the same people tellin' me I didn't stand a chance a couple months ago. Now I've got a conditional offer of hire from a good department. You were probably still in school or fresh out when this stuff happened.....just juvenile bs, I think most departments will bust your balls over it a little but hey all you can do is try right?
Good Luck
Too hard on him?
In most states he committed a felony. One that shows a severe lack of judgement, even if he was a minor. It showed that at one time he was thinking with the wrong head, and it lead him into a criminal act, depending on what state it happened in. That's a big no no with most agency's. And judging from your past post history, it state's you're just an applicant. So, until you get hired, and see first hand what agency's look for, and what they will DQ for, why don't you keep your opinions on whether or not me and the rest of the LEO's on this board are too hard on him, to yourself.

You should be a little skeptical of advice given by people who haven't even gotten hired yet. A conditional offer is a worthless piece of paper that gives departments the legal right to polygraph, medical and psych eval applicants.
That being said, what you did was not the end of the world. I think you are probably a little too young and close to the time of the incidents. If you are not hired (you may not be DQ'd but instead have difficulty making eligibility lists due to competition) consider that you may just need more time. Get a 4 year degree and/or spend some time in the military. This accomplishes 2 things: you will be older, wiser and more mature and you will have placed more time between the application and when the illegal/immoral activities occurred.
Bottom line, if you don't get picked up keep working on the resume and try again in a couple years.

Now you all got me worried...I took a picture of my 4 month old, naked, on a bear skin rug with his butt showing.....
