I got ahold of the Sheriff's Office this afternoon. Yesturday I was scheduled with my interview with the Chief on Nov 30th. 6 days before the "planned" hire date of Dec. 5th. I asked my actual BI (I had been going through a fill in BI) if I had to pass the interview with the Chief before I could put in my two weeks and what not. She said yes, and acted surprised that the interview is pretty late. She apollogized for this happening and said I most likely will not be doing the Dec 5th hire date. She said I'll probably end up going for Jan instead. I have been told from a Lt over at the S.O. that the interview is just a "get to know you" session, and that there is nothing to worry about.

From what it sounds since the original hire date came from the Chief, it appears that the temporary Background Investigator I had, didn't send off my file to the Chief when she was suppost to. It was suppost to be sent off right after my PAT on Oct 31st. I don't think the file made it his way until quite a bit afterwards. If it wasn't that, then the Chief just didn't get to my file until now, which sounds odd and doesn't make sense..

Either way, I now have another month to wait at minimum before I can do anything.

Unfortunatly, this is one of those "crap happens" things.

I think he's just using common sense. I'm closer to him geographically than you... therefore the chance of me being HIS backup is FAR greater. :D

You are so right. I ironically remember telling a kid that one day that ran away from his mom. Flat out told him bring the big mob bosses, bring the drug lords. But keep the women that are PO'd away from me.

Hell, if I hadn't prodded my recruiting division about 4 months out from my projected academy start date, I probably would've been overlooked until the next academy started in July of this year! All because they had put some dates in the wrong blocks. When I didn't hear from anyone for a long I time I got kinda worried and gave them a call. Good thing I did. I guess the bottom line is that this stuff happens everywhere and one good thing to know is that you will a have a job waiting for you. Believe it or not. :D

Yeah, I've gotten a pretty good "feel" for how they do things now. I try not to call and bug them, but I've learned that based on how fast they have been moving, if I don't hear back from them by a week when I last do something, I need to call and see if all is well. Because usually, I hear something within a week. Just this time, no one knew what was going on. lol.

Matter of fact, when I called Human Resources after I got a call from the Chief's Office, they still had me as processing for December 5th. My BI was suprised to find out that I won't be on until Jan.

Oh well, things happen. :D
