    LAPD Medical

Well for all you LAPD guys out there in the process of gettiing hired I just finished up my Med. and written Psych. exams. I got held up on my medical because of my mild case of asthma so it set me back 3 weeks. I should recieve my pass letter hopefully sometime this week. Then I guess ill be waiting for my call to do my oral psych. Chances are slim that I will get in with the November class, but ill be prayin for it. Anyways if anyone has any questions about the Med. and Psych. just let me know and ill be glad to share my story of what happened.

You still have to get through Backgrounds in order to do your oral psyc...that written psyc was like 1500 questions.

I have my Med/psych this Tuesday. I finally passed my poly after the second time around. Also I haven't been assigned a BI. When should I be getting assigned one, is it after the Med/Psych?

Once your poly results are updated at personnel, they will send your background packet to room B-22 and city personnel will assign you a BI. the process is about 3 to 4 weeks. because background division is really backed up with not only police candidates but fire fighter, general service, lax police, etc... congrats in getting this far.

    Long Day

Yea get ready for a long day...took me about 6 hours to get threw it all. And do not go in a suit and tie, wear something comfortable. You will be in and out of your clothes a few times. I have not heard from my BI once since I started this whole process and its been more than a month since I passed my poly. I dont even know if I have a BI. But no need to worry much cuz I know they start your background after your first oral interview. At least with mine they did. Anyways good luck tomorrow, im sure you will do fine.

Yeah you wont be getting in the Nov class..you are looking at Feb or March..it's a long process..the Oral psych is after your background in done..then you get audited, then certification then you are eligible to get into a class..

I just completed my Med. and written Psych. but I haven't recieved the results as of yet. Is it safe to assume that I won't see an Academy start date till sometime in the Summer of 06?

I've been told that interview scores rank candidates. If this is true is it ok for me to re-interview to attempt to get a higher score, my initial score was in the low 90's?

It took me a week to get my results back for the med./psych. and I dont think you can go and re-take the oral interview to try and get a better score. If yer in the 90's you did pretty good and should be high on the list.

They have changed some of the steps around a bit, but I think that they now schedule the oral psych as one of the last steps before ceritification

the oral psych is after your background is cleared. It's the last step before certification.

I have yet to hear anything since I passed. I am just waiting patiently until someone contacts me. I hope they move quickly so I can get in within the next couple of months. Seems like there on the ball since they have been trying to hire so many people. We shall see though.

I got my PASS card on my medical yesterday which was a nice and a relief since I was held up as well for my asthma. Now I guess I have to wait until they finish up my background and send me for my oral psych. Im gunna try and talk to lapd backgrounds tomorrow to find out where I stand as of now in my background process. I have yet to be contacted by my BI either.
