LAPD oral exam Saturday; any advice?

Greetings, all. I attended the interview-prep workshop and the veteran officer provided us with useful information. From you kind folks I am seeking anything you would be willing to share.

Is there any essential research one feels I should do before attending the session?

    Regards

just smile and answer all questions complete. throw in some things about the community. they like that. you'll be in their about 45 minutes, saturdays they usually have the whole day to waste. be prepared and business attire. good luck.

When they ask you if you wanted to say anything tell them "I see dead people": works every time. Beyond that I don't think I could tell you anything that wasn't covered in your little workshop. Good luck.

I had mine a 1.5 of weeks ago. Scored a 100 . Anyways, you're not allowed to discuss what was asked during the interview. However, if you did go to the oral prep seminar, answer each of those questions as if you were speaking it and make each answer about half a page single spaced. Then, practice saying your answers outloud. This is what I did and it helped alot. I was answering the questions verbatim all the way to L.A. hehe.

Handshake is also important, be sure to give a good handshake and don't give gentle ones just because or if your interviewer is female. Community knowledge will help you out a lot and show you can handle certain situations without second guessing your self. Stick to your guns and again, dont second guess yourself!

Like others have mentioned, feel free to throw out things about yourself that would make you shine as a police officer. Be sure to smile and dress to impress. Mine didn't last very long, maybe 15 minutes max.

Being nervous is natural. As I was waiting, one guy walked out of the room, sat down, and started praying outloud. Talk about not helping my nerves. However, when you get to it, you shouldn't even really be nervous. Your interviewers as stated at the seminar know you're nervous and will take that into account.

    Good luck!
