LAPD Background question

Well I am in the process right now and got a letter of concern back in Jan, basically it was for a couple of things I admitted too. The person at the background interview said I should have no problem then a month later I get this letter saying I needed to explain myself in detail and tell them why I should be a cop. Well I wrote the best letter I have ever written and sent it back to them. Now fast forward to today and I called them to make sure everything was in place. I wanted to make sure they received the letter and they said “yes we received your appeal” What........ I didn't think it was an appeal at the time. Then they said I should hear back from them in April. What are the chances of me still being eligible?

You are still in the process - only you have been put in the "penalty box". You explained the situation in the letter, now you must show that you have distanced yourself from whatever it may have been. Your only concern is to make sure that you keep up with all of your tests and their expiration dates. Keep in contact with Police and Fire Selection personnel. They can be very helpful if you are respectful to them to begin with!

appeals take long. if they think you have distance yourself then they would return you back into the process, good luck. right now im in my background stage. just came back from my interview w/ my BI. everything went well. hopefully may class, 05/05. nothing really for the BI to do because i had a complete BI back in 2001. BI just married both BI packets together. everything is just update. ciscokid how long you think?

Thanks for the info guys. I am just hoping for the best right now. I will post up when I hear from them. Does any one know when/if they are going to stop classes this year? I herd it was June or July?

Sir112 - Yeah, two classes in May so you could be looking very good. I have heard that there will be at least one class every month through the end of Calendar year 2005. Beyond that will be determined by the budget which is set and ratified hopefully by 07/05

ciscokid, yea i might be in the 05/05 class? "maybe." my BI has really nothing else to do. he just interviewed my neighbors last week. went to my recent job at the Staples Center on monday. so i dont know whats left? because my old BI back in 2001 did pretty much everything. however, from the turn in of the packet to there supervisor, then case manager review then certification takes about what 2 months?

sir112, how long did your background take? Also, I'm still waiting to hear from my backgrounds officer, so I was wondering how long you waited till you heard from yours.

Word from the Captain is that the academy is running out of room right now with the classes that are there. Ciscokid you know Davis cannot handle much more. The locker rooms are really small up there and parking..lets just say carpooling is not an option is a mandate now. Hang in there classes are going to be every month unti June. April is a maybe

It really is starting to feel like a real Academy now with all of the activity. Davis is indeed very small - not much more room ESPECIALLY the locker rooms! As for ARTC - I think that there are plenty of rooms if they utilize the western portion of the second floor (like the orientation room). Plus, we're out of there in 6 weeks so that will free up another room

Sir112 - Cerification and the length of time certified depends on the number of recruit candidates on the list and how many they are hiring as well as the target oral scores. You could be certified for one class and get hired or multiple classes while waiting your turn

bpress, after you pass poly, about 1 month, before you here something from your BI. also backgrounds depends on each candidate. i cant tell you cuz your background is differnet from mine. good luck

So Im scheduled for expedited testing.. If i were to pass everything what dates would i stand in?
