Right on the Money
I just went through the process and I would have to agree with this procedure. It this point I only have 10 weeks left in the academy and then it is off to FTO.
Best of luck to everyone who is still in the process.

that was a great post and will help me a bunch since im just in the beginning stages of the process. here in gwinnett county georgia for the sheriffs dept, i didnt have to take the written exam because i have a military background. so i went straight to the next step which is on january 4th. your post is really eye opening so i printed it out to refer back to it during the process. again thank you very much and this site is great!
and to the idiot that wants to lie on his application: ---- please tell me you are not that much of a moron....wait...don't answer that.

I dont think lieing is the best idea. I would write it all down and press apon the department that is not the person you are now. This will prove to be the better choice. If they turn you down go to another department. Youll get hired. I went though it too.

I truly respect MOST cops and those in law enforcement. But as a human being I believe there are very few cops, just as most ordinary citizens, had they been caught at one time or another (hmm, yea my 10th grader friend, I'll try one "hit" of that wacky tobaccy...or something else {remember even Clinton,"he just did not enhale...yea right}) would not mee the strigent LEGAL requirment of being a cop

Valycop,
Thank you very much for the information you presented. I am currently going through the process now, and will be taking the physical fitness test and interview next week. I found your write up to be very useful to me.
Again, thank you.

One time, two time Marijuana use? Not usually unless better qualified applicants are available. Amount of usage, time passed since last use and other factors always weigh in.
Cocaine, Heroin, LSD, Meth etc etc are auto DQ's at my Dept.
