Conditional Offer

Well I got my "Conditional Offer" on Saturday. I am excited, yet still quite a bit nervous. At this department you get the offer prior to the BI, the Oral Board, the poly and the psych eval so I still have a while to wait before knowing more. I have not done anything in the past that would DQ me, other than letting my credit standing go astray. I have done some to get it straightened out, but still have some negs. Hopefully that will not DQ me, but only time will tell. I try to remember that I would never have known if I would make it as a LEO if I had never tried.

Credit can be a problem if they say that you owe too much money. They want to avoid any embarrassing situations where creditors are calling the PD wanting to garnish wages and what not.

The credit problems are fixable.

Yeah, still have quite a bit to do. I have passed the Entrance Exam and the Physical Agility Test, oh and yes my application was processed. Now I have a week to get my PHS returned and then the wait continues.

Sounds like my situation. I got a "conditional offer" when I took the poly for a local department. I still have to go through the BI and the psych though. It even says on my offer something along the lines of the fact that the department "only selects the most qualified applicants" and that I might never hear from them again! Pretty funny.....but still encouraging.

A conditional hire is great but you're not hired until you are hired. ;)

That sounds like those teachers that tell their students the first day of class that everyone has an A. It is up to the individual student to keep it. I always found that funny, LMAO. My theory is that we have nothing since we have not work for anything yet. We may be able to work up to an A, should we succesfully accomplish all the task.
Your situation is very similar to this deal. The PD has made a conditional offer, until they detect anything that they do not like or a better qualified candidate comes along. I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be funny, but I guess that PD likes to keep their applicants hopes up. This can go either way, if you are hired, you were spare of the anxiety that comes along with being a police applicant. On the other hand, if an applicant is not hired, they may be crushed and dissappointed. I love psychology. Screw Freud.
