    Military Activation During Police Academy?

    What happens if a military reservist/National Guardsman makes it through the entire hiring process for a LE agency and is then called to active duty at some point during the academy?

    Sound take by DC, but I just wanted to point out that you shouldn't count on the temporary deferment.

    I don't see the military treating this situation any different from the way they've treated some college students who were 1-2 months away from completing their college degree. :(

    Plan to leave and get recycled and you wont be disappointed. If something else happens then count your blessings.

    We had a guy get activated during the academy. It was moved to just after graduation. When he gets back he will go into field training as if he just graduated.

    A guy in my academy was activated at week 9 (out of 14). He did his year and came back, had to start the academy over and is now a trooper out in some village like McGrath or Fort Yukon. Poor guy.

    There is a certain amount of clases (hours) one can miss with GA POST academy, if they miss more there is a case by case basis appeal, but most I'm told have to either restart or if their lucky take what they missed.

    If one were to be activated while in the academy then return prior to the end of the academy, but too late to catch up, what would be done with that individual while he or she waits for the next class to begin?

    Depending on the department, they'll probably have you do admin type stuff at the station. There's never a shortage of paperwork you can help with
