    Background!

    Hey all,
I had my BI today for a large dept. I was brutally honest, and I still consider I have a good background. NO TICKETS, NO POLICE CONTACT, NO ACCIDENTS. Some marijuana usage in highschool and first year of college. Owned up to it like I have through the whole process. 'While an adult ever slept with anyone underage?' Included the fact I was 18 my girlfriend was 17. 'Have sex in a public place or in a place visible to others?' Yes outside by my parents pool. 'Taken medication not perscribed to you?' My parents in high school would give me a vicodin of theirs if I started to get a migraine or sometime after a football game. (I was an All-Leaguer Runningback 2 years in a row in So. Cal. WHITE running back interestingly enough, by the way, and let's just say one of teams we handled was Compton so I got my pink *** kicked pretty hard. No discussions bout race and athletics) BTW, at the time I did not know it was illegal to do take their medication. 'Ever been physically abused in a relationship?' LOL, I talked about a time an ex I was still sleeping with slapped me after I called her a coke head after she did coke for the first time. (She was g****n lucky I have a cool head in situations like that. Having 4 sisters helped.)
Oh BTW, by calling her a coke head I had to fess up to 'Have I ever said anything I was in an intimate relationship with something intentionally hurtful?' Ummmm... 'How many times have I been to the point I knew I was drunk and could not take care of my property?' I put 50 times. Sounds like alot. I went to Arizona State and was involved in a huge fraternity house, and as a new 21 year old liked to do my fare share of boozing. Also during law school, going out on weekends and getting trashed took the stress off alot, but did not affect my work. 'Driven while I felt I may have had to much to drink?' I put 3 different occasions dealing with around 4-5 drinks and less then a mile to drive. This occurred in a 3 month period after I turned 21. 3 Years ago.
So? They want me to be honest. I could have not included alot of things that they would have never found out. I know they are looking for personality traits. But hell, I'm trying to get into heaven not running for Jesus! BTW, the guy who looked at my paperwork was SUCH SUCH an *******. Every other BI was so nice. Oh well. Luck of the draw. What u all think? I applied to 10 other different departments too. On the 4 I've heard back from, I've scored in top 10% on tests and orals.  Le0

You have more "bruises " in your background than some but this will depend on the department. Some will consider the alcohol use as excessive, some the prescription drug uise is a BIG no-no. I ultimately think you will be successful BUT also be preapred for some dept's that have FIRM DQ policies regardless of how you sugarcoat them.

I can see the drinking being a problem with some departments. 50's times doesn't sound like a lot, it is a lot. Time should be able to help that one. Other than that, I don't see anything bing a problems. Good luck.

    Hey Tex,
If I had an attitude problem I would have slapped my ex so hard her first child would have came out of her with a welt on its ***. You can personally investigate it. Oh, and by the way? What am I in denial about? Because that's my whole life story RIGHT THERE IN TIMES NEW ROMAN. Sorry I don't BS my BG. Anything YOU have a problem with on my Background? Apparently other offices that have offered me jobs don't. The ATF had no problem hiring me. Does the ATF make you mad taking over all your investigations? I'm not mad at your post, but at least if you are gonna waste my time looking back at responses, make it worth my while. Le0

I really hope every cop I have to deal with once I ace the academy is going to be like you. Le0

    And I rest my case.

Since you didn't want an opinion on you, I guess you got the bonus plan. No charge either.

So you work for the BATF?

    Do you have JD?

And I don't get your comments about the ATF? Why would I care about what they investigate?

And your attitude is peeking through.

    No not the BATF,
Worked for ATF. We got fired plenty of attitude from state investigators that were mad that more we were taking over their case for various reasons. Anyhow, I'm not going to make this thread into a pissing contest. Apparently this is not the forum to get information or opinions from a 'professional'. I can answer my own questions, but it is nice to share and see what other people have to say. Your initial post on this subject was COMPLETELY second-rate and unimpressive. Le0

BTW, I hated the pricks in my fraternity that screwed with the pledges. Seemed like an inferiority complex. Kind of continues on in life....
