Academy Finally

Finally the academy is starting. Ive been waiting for it for so long. Even though Im going in as a non affilliate, I am pretty confident that I will get picked up by a department before it is over. I am anxious to see how challenging it is going to be. I'll keep you guys posted. I swear this is the greatest forum on the whole internet. By the way the academy starts on moday jan 10. at the SBRTC in SJ. There are 51 in the class, and 17 are affilliated with surrounding agencies. 34 are not.Pretty Interesting.

Good for you. Putting yourself through IMHO is a good sign of someone who is more than just a wannabe.

After the first week...WOW. Thats all that I can think to myself. I never went to bed before 3 am every night. The tests arent very difficult, its just trying to retain all of the information that is being presented to you. Inspections are the biggest pain in the arse. LOL. After saying all of this, I wouldnt trade it in for the whole WORLD. What an experience this is going to be. Im looking forward to every bit of it. STUDY STUDY STUDY. thats all I do. Anyone care to elaborate on their experience in the academy? It would be greatly appreciated. Talk to ya'll later.

SJPD hopeful - I don't know your whole story, but if you are really hopeful about getting into the SJPD you will have to get picked up by another agency for at least a year then lateral over. The SJPD runs it's own academy within the SBRTC (as I am sure you know by now), but they don't pick up any unaffiliated recruits.
