    Can you help

OK i am interested in getting a job in law enforcement. I know that most of the agencies here in CA have a written exam with reading comprehension questions so I got some books to help prepare for the test. If you have taken le exams with reading comprehension could you tell me how you did it? like what strategy you used to help you find the answer and answer the questions correctly? thanks for any advice you offer

I've taken a few in CA and the books offer pretty good advice. The bottom line: Don't spend to much time on one question or you will run out of time. Read the answers first just to get and idea of what they may pertain to, then read the passage. Once you read the passage and eliminate the obvious wrong answers and focus on the ones that most closely resemble the right answer, then scan the passage quickly to narrow it down.

There is no magic to it, a reasonably smart person with common sense should be able to read something and sum it up. Hence, why they put so many of those types of questions on the test.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes. Take the practice POST exam and those in the book.

I don't know about the California exam, but I took the Florida and scored a 90%. It is extremely simple. It will ask you questions to which the answers are written verbatim within the paragraph. I'm actually upset about the 90. I think I screwed up the spatial intelligence questions.
