Texas, thats wrong. The kid had a rough time. At least he got the HS diploma. Wait, did he get it? Whatever. At the very least he persevered through it. I can't say that about those I went to high school with. We started with a freshman class of 550, by our senior year we were 225 and only 75 graduated. Out of those 75 only six have a bachelor degree and and two a master. I am the third in persuit of a master.

As I've said before, I am in persuit of a master and applying to become a Leo. In addition, I am fluent in Spanish. Anyway, I have never done ANY illegal drugs and do not have any altercations with the law, except for an investigation of credit card fraud in 1999. Though never arrested, I am having a hell of a time getting hired. I think most if not all applicants to Florida departments are squeaky-clean.

Having computer skills is good but no dept. I know hires people off of the street to be a computer nerd. EVERYBODY starts out as a patrolman for a few years and must compete against others who graduated on time college degree military etc. It is admirable that you are finishing HS but bottom line is...how do you stack up against other applicants ?

BTW we require 5 yrs clean of MJ and NO hard drugs EVER.

FYI: It should not be necessary to state this, but due to recent threads I will inform anyone who does not already know that ANY illegal drug other than marijuana can be an automatic disqualification for a law enforcement position. This includes, but is not limited to: cocaine, LSD, opium/heroin, speed/meth, prescription drugs without a legal prescription for a valid medical reason (especially painkillers for recreational use), exstacy/MDMA, etc. In some departments, any illegal drug, including marijuana, can be an auto-DQ. Any deviation of acceptability for the above listed drugs will vary from one department to another, but generally speaking, such is the case with most departments.

The question is: are you going to do something about it? I, myself am at a disadvantage, I have no experience, I'm older than most applicants, and I have no college. I enrolled for some C.J. classes and am doing everything I can to look better to all the depts. I apply at. It's not going to come to you without work.
