    Background Question..... help

I'm getting ready for my BI. And I'm really anal about having everything perfect... One question though.......

In high school I worked part time and got paid under the table.... It wasnt a lot of money, and since I was in school my parents claimed me as a dependent. But did not disclose the cash made. That was 8 years ago.

I dont want to lie on the app. so I'm planning to tell BI about my employment there.... But I'm wondering how that whole situation is going to be looked at. Is it going to be a DQ item, or an item that would get the other guy hired over me. Jersey is very competetive and there is no room for error in my situation......

    Any advice?

Since it wasn't a lot of money, should be a problem whatsoever. If you receive $10,000 you have to report it as income to the Gov't. Since you made a small amount its not going to be a problem. I did the same thing in college, as a fraternity brother of mine owned a lawn care service. He paid me cash for helping him out, so of course I didn't file it as taxes as I was still a dependent with my parents. I always encourage people to disclose everything to their BI so there's no suprises, but I don't foresee this being any big deal at all. Tell you BI of this to be on the safe side, but so long as the money was gained via legal channels (a little crack rock selling on the side won't cut it), you should be fine.
