Not an applicant for PSP, or any other State LEA, but do a search of DQs on this forum. Many automatic DQs are shared across agencies, and even if not it may give you some further insight about the process.

My new hero!
I am currently in the process.
The Disqualifying events for the PSP are listed on their website.
The only easy day was yesterday!
As mentioned above, they are on thier website. My personal experience, and from talking to others going through the process for PSP is that they are strict. More so than other state agencies. You need a clean driving record. No citations in the past 4 years and barely any before that. Very little marjiuana usage a long time ago is tolarable. Anything worse, meth, coke, crack, steroids, lsd, oxy, extacy is an automatic DQ. Even if only tried once or twice. You need a decent backround and a more than good rating on your credit history. I know a lot of people that went through it, most of which had to either start over after the poly or never made it through the backround. Good luck to ya. P.S. They love ex-military with the right credentials.
I know the auto DQ's are on the web site, but if you had any of the automatic DQ's you would not make it to the background stage.Originally Posted by shaffedogg1
Their DQ's are almost the same as anywhere else, perhaps a little more stringent though.

Yeah, i am sure there are a few bad apples that make it passed the polygraph, but let's assume, one has been completely honest with all of the disclosures on the application and polygraph booklet. What kind of stuff would keep someone from passing the background?
Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.

part of your statement is incorrect. if you used a class II or III drug 3 years prior to taking the exam would constitute a auto dq.Originally Posted by shaffedogg1
I got DQed from the BI back in 02. I can tell you, poor work history, any trouble with the law ( I got a Disorderly in 97) and driving history can get you booted. I have a buddy who is an MP in the Marines with combat experience and a BS that got DQed because he rented a hooker in Honduras 3 years prior to applying to PSP. If you don't have a spotless background, don't waste your time.
