    Rochester, Ny Final Interview

    Hello-

I was contacted by my background investigator yesterday and told that I will be scheduled for my final interview next week. Anyone familiar with the RPD process that could help me out?

Few questions that immediately come to mind:

How significant is this? Does everyone who gets processed have a final interview, or is this a sign that there is nothing in my background that would disqual me?

What should I expect in the inetrview?

Lastly, after this interview, whats next?

Many thanks to anyone that could help in any way. I've never been this far in the process, so this is all new for me.

    Thanks again,

    leckscuba

    Just a heads up,

Well known throughout NY that the Rochester PD is having HUGE problems right now. They are having serious issues with brass vs. staff and guys with 10+ yeare on have just walked off the department.

Things are so bad they had to shift all sworn personnel on admin duties out to the field.

If one or two guys have a problem and leave...I would say it is a personal issue. But there are GROUPS leaving. You need to find out what is going on. Find a cop on duty parked or somewhere and tell them you are an applican and want to know what thw inside scoop is...pros and cons.

I am not sur eof teh situation. But I know there is a HUGE one. I am just not sure what it is.

    -Good luck!
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

That is certainly NOT the case, Joey. There are several reasons they moved some "desk" officers out to the road.
One is that the process is so long to get certified cops, that they are falling behind in maintaining the numbers.
There is a high number of officers/bosses retiring this year (20 and out, not for other reasons), which puts a strain on things as well.
There was a major reorganization this year, which made sthose officers that are afraid of change very uncomfortable, so there are rumors that there are "problems".
In addition, they ask that "desk" cops still get "street time" to maintain their skills for when they are needed for special assignments.

There are problems with that PD, but it is nothing more than people reacting to (an eventually good??) change.
